Rocky's Donkeys

I truly believe, even though it's not true, Rocky was bred to be a cutting horse. Man oh man, does that boy ever have fun chasing the donkeys. During the winter my boy slacked off. He got kind of lazy which is a good thing. If he hadn't, he might have twisted an ankle or something and that would have been bad.

For that, I'm glad he's a lazy bum in winter. I'm a lazy bum too...but not only in winter. If I could hibernate, I would. Except I'd miss eating. I love to eat. As much as my doctor tries to ruin eating by telling me what I can and cannot eat, I still love to eat.

There are the donks.


Heeeeeeere's Johnny...or...Rocky. Right. Roooooocky.


And there he is, herding the donk a donks.


And there's Rocky saying, "Hey, there's my momma. She might have some foodage for me. See ya donkeys."

Really, it was just more of a silent nicker. But I know that's what he was thinking or hoping for. Like me, he loves food. We would hibernate if it meant we could still eat. Perfect world for both of us.

Never mind how dirty and mangy looking he is at this moment, we'll talk about that tomorrow. I mean, you thought your dogs shed! You just wait...

Pretty Flowers

Today I give you...pretty flowers! MIL J says this is the first time she's gotten a wisteria to bloom. I've never gotten anything to bloom so way to go MIL J! This one's all for you!

Reflections

One of my favorite things to do when I'm taking pictures is to use reflections of things to set the scene rather than to take the picture head on. A couple weeks ago, we had Norm and Dori over and we were all sitting in a circle in the glorious sun. I couldn't get up to take a picture of all of us in a circle because I was going to miss half the faces. I couldn't take a picture while still sitting in the circle because my lens isn't wide enough.

So I found a reflection I could use. FIL D glasses.

It wasn't perfect, but it was usable. You can see Dori, Norm, Matt and part of my leg in the second one. In the first one, you can see all of us except for MIL J, only part of her. She was sitting just far enough back not to be in the reflection.

Try it out, use reflections in glass, water, metal...anything to create the ultimate image.

An Update on the Puppies

A couple weekends ago I got to take some pictures of the puppies.

As you can see, Lucy is so very excited about this prospect.

I loves my puppies. They are awesome.

15,000 Egg Pick-Up

I mentioned yesterday how the kids cleaned up the yard like a vacuum. I don't think you understand just how fast they did this. In 8 minutes flat, they had picked up every egg. Breaking none. It was very impressive.

Here they come!

Everyone ran, like they couldn't get enough eggs.


And some baskets were just too small for the loot.


Some 'cracked' under the pressure.


Notice the complete lack of eggs.


Time to find a new area.


This little girl had no legs below the knee. She was extremely proficient at getting around.


When all was said and done, every kid went home with more eggs and candy than they could ever handle.

Don't worry, for those who were unable to leave the hospital, plenty of eggs were set aside just for them so they would not miss out.

This was the best day all in all. It was a great day for a ride, it was inspiring to watch, and I think we all felt good helping out.
