And then I lived up to my name...

We woke up the next morning, having slept in and slept comfortably, to a winter wonderland...of sorts.

046-2

047-3
No, those aren't all cars, some of those are where cars WERE overnight.

048-2

056-2

052-3
I told you that I thought our stop in Boomtown would be the best chance to get a picture of the truck with snow. Remember that? I was incredibly wrong.

053-2
And I thought we would be spending all of our time going through the casino or to the car, so I wouldn't need good snow shoes. Plus, we were in Reno, where the snow doesn't stick. So my fine friends, your narrator lived up to her name and wore her flip flops...in the snow.

054-2
It wasn't deep, just deep enough.

070-2
Working Man had far more sensible shoes. I had sensible shoes...they were just in the truck...and I refused to put them on.

068
I don't like ice, it makes me fall.

072
And the snow stuck to the bottom of my flip flops...just so I could slip a little more.

075
Notice my toes...they have curled in on themselves because they were very cold. I'm starting to rethink my name here.

Better yet, we went to Cabela's in Boomtown and the fudge lady looked at my feet and said, "And you're wearing flip flops!" Why yes, yes I am. Next time I'll consider socks and shoes. Consider mind you.

On a side note, I'm going to be offline for a couple of days while we put wood flooring down in our living room. Please, do not revolt, I will be posting again when I come back.

And then it snowed...

So we went to Reno to renew our vows. Seriously, try and say that three times fast. I couldn't even type it once without many errors...and it has nothing to do with my typing skills.

031-2
So here's one of only a few pictures of me. Remember? The face rebellion?

033-2
I was able to photoshop the face rebellion in this one. I didn't mess with all of the flaws, if I had, I would have been working on it for hours. I just took care of the big generals in the army on my face. On that note, I love my eyes. Beautiful.

039-2
After the renewal.

042-2
Aw, we're so cheesy. I love us.

043
And then it snowed...in Reno! According to the limo driver, not too uncommon, it just doesn't stick around.

044
So I thought, no big deal. The snow will be gone from here tomorrow, no biggie.

Or so I thought.

And away we go...

For those of you who do not know, Working Man and I celebrated our first anniversary on Saturday. Our plan was for WM to pick me up from work, head straight to Reno, renew our vows, and eat dinner. Like last year though, it's not that easy. The storm of the century decided to roll through. They renamed it something more catchy, but Working Man couldn't remember what it was, so apparently it wasn't that catchy. At any rate...driving up was just as interesting as last year. Lots of snow, lots of dark, lots of signs saying we needed chains.

We don't need no chains...we've got four wheel drive and snow tires. So worth it.

Pictures!

010-2
Notice WM's excitement. I was equally excited but was not ready for my close-up. Rather, my face has not been ready for a close-up for a week. So you won't see many pictures of me.

011-2
The start of the trip, the first hint of the storm to come.

012-2
And we hit freezing.

020-2
I felt like we were driving through a snow tunnel, it was coming right at us. Kind of creepy.

021-2
Black hole tunnel.

023-2
At the top of the pass, this is as cold as it got that night.

024-2
And at the top of the pass, at that crazy 23 degree weather...Working Man had his window cracked. Crazy Working Man. In his defense, we had the defroster all the way up, full heat, to try to keep the snow from becoming ice on the windshield. We were actually pretty successful, even if we were sweating to death.

028

029-3
The funny part is, I thought this would be my best opportunity to take a picture of the truck with snow. After all, after the top of the pass and heading into the valley and Reno, the snow should stop altogether....Right?

More on that tomorrow.

Kitty Kitty

I don't think I've ever posted about our one and only cat. I very much like this cat, mostly because she doesn't get in the way...most of the time. She meows when you meow at her, drools when you pet her, and is so not a typical cat. She's usually filthy and doesn't do much to correct it. Additionally, she's a barn cat, though sometimes I don't think she's entirely successful. But I think she's at least moderately successful. Even so, it's fewer rats for us to hunt down.

Kitty used to have a normal name. Like...Snowball...but, like so many cats I've noticed now working in a vet hospital, she became Kitty. I think this is because the name of the animal is actually a name. Dog is not a name, Kitty is. Did I ever tell you Honey almost responds better to Puggle than Honey? I work hard to keep her name as is...though occasionally Working Man and I will add in "pot" or "bear". And now I'm off topic...

Pictures!

She only looks mad because Honey is trying to get near her. She really is quite sweet. Just don't pet her while wearing something you don't want to get drool on. Hypersalivation for the world!

Honey Pot...

Some new pictures of my Honey pot...Not the outhouse system of Oregon...my dog. She has gotten so big! Just six months ago this was her:

049

Oh gosh, I so miss her like this. So unable to jump on anything or to figure out how her bark worked, or her feet for that matter. She was so precious.

Now she's all growed up. (Yes, I know. Not proper grammar, sue me.) She's this monster who can jump up on everything (even straight in the air!) darn that beagle in my pup. She barks at everything, darn that beagle in my pup. She's definitely learned how to use those feet to dig and her nose for smelling, darn that beagle in my pup. Maybe we should have stuck with the pug...on the other hand, I love the beagle in my pup.

She can give me faces like this:
007-3

Run too fast for my camera like this:
021

Pounce on nothing:
025

Paw at nothing:
026

Run with ears flapping in such a way that I can't get ahead of her to catch it:
029-2

"Look" for something all the while watching my feet to see where I'm going to come at her from next:
034-2

Master the stairs while not looking at them:
036-2

Sit perfectly...but not on command:
045

Stand regally...but too close for Mommy to get a picture of her whole body:
047-2

I really do love that beagle in my pup. But props to the pug that keeps her from being a beagle. Puggle all the way for my Honey pot. She's a good girl, if not tiring.

Someone give me energy like hers,
