An Update on the Puppies

A couple weekends ago I got to take some pictures of the puppies.

028.jpg
As you can see, Lucy is so very excited about this prospect.

030.jpg
Or not.

034.jpg
Thank you Lucy for giving me a beautiful head shot.

036.jpg
I guess Honey's not very excited either.

053.jpg
Lazy dogs!

067.jpg
Seriously! I don't think I deserved that!

047.jpg
How about you Trixy? No?

072.jpg
Oh thank you Lucy for being a willing participant.

073.jpg
This is her, "What are you doing and does it have food and by the way I Love you" face.

075.jpg
This is her, "Hint hint, I need a pillow" face

078.jpg
And this is her eye. And the reflection of me and the sky in it. I love this.

I loves my puppies. They are awesome.

15,000 Egg Pick-Up

I mentioned yesterday how the kids cleaned up the yard like a vacuum. I don't think you understand just how fast they did this. In 8 minutes flat, they had picked up every egg. Breaking none. It was very impressive.

124.jpg
Here they come!

127.jpg
There they go!

135.jpg
Everyone ran, like they couldn't get enough eggs.

145.jpg
And some baskets were just too small for the loot.

146.jpg
Some 'cracked' under the pressure.

153.jpg
Notice the complete lack of eggs.

154.jpg
Time to find a new area.

158.jpg
This little girl had no legs below the knee. She was extremely proficient at getting around.

166.jpg
When all was said and done, every kid went home with more eggs and candy than they could ever handle.

Don't worry, for those who were unable to leave the hospital, plenty of eggs were set aside just for them so they would not miss out.

This was the best day all in all. It was a great day for a ride, it was inspiring to watch, and I think we all felt good helping out.

15,000 Eggs

To help children celebrate an Easter they may never get to experience again, Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts, and Boy Scouts put together plastic eggs filled with candy and other wonderful things. All in all, they stuffed 15,000 eggs. To help these children further, our H.O.G (Harley Owner's Group) and the local Black Sheep headed off early this morning to go to the Ronald McDonald house in Sacramento. Our job was to spread out all 15,000 eggs across their lawn, playground, trees, and bushes and help the kids who needed it.

002.jpg
We arrive.

006.jpg
Jack spreading some eggs.

031.jpg
There were so many, it's impossible to actually "hide" the eggs.

044.jpg
But we made do.

051.jpg
Eggs eggs everywhere!

062.jpg
The guys pretty much took big boxes and dragged them around the lawn to spread them.

066.jpg
Bob making sure I get at least one decent picture.

071.jpg
Working Man doing what Working Man does, working.

075.jpg
Someone took the time and effort to hand-crochet these.

076.jpg
Little finger puppets!

088.jpg
We got as creative as we could. But have you ever seen 15,000 eggs on a lawn?

097.jpg
Looks like flowers...only, they're eggs. After the kids got there, it was like a vacuum, they just disappeared!

A successful day all in all.

A List

1. My windshield is covered. Did you know that bugs like to come out at dusk? Did you know that I drive home at dusk? I can't see out my windshield. Driver's beware.

2. My sister got glasses. When she was up here, she squinted a lot. We told her she would have to get glasses but she didn't believe us.

3. I was dizzy when I first got my glasses. I could see a distance but my feet looked like they were detached. It was really trippy. Literally.

4. I first knew I had to get glasses because I couldn't see a stop sign except for the color and shape. Actually, more just the color and approximate height. I had no idea what shape it was because it was so blurry.

5. I really wish I had more energy to put into all the different hobbies I enjoy.

6. I really wish I had more time to put into all the different hobbies I enjoy.

7. Maybe I should have fewer hobbies.

8. I take that back. I love all my hobbies. That's why they're hobbies. I'm just not good at balancing everything.

9. I don't like to eat breakfast. My doctor is now telling me I am going to have to eat breakfast.

10. I'm tired. So this is rambling. I haven't written in awhile because of 5 and 6. Have a good night. And if I don't see you, good morning and good afternoon and good evening. Yeah, it's butchered but it's not morning.

The Impossible

We're going to have a serious post today. Just something I've been thinking of. I just want to talk today.

When I was a kid, nothing was impossible. Even if it was "impossible" it was never outside the realm of possibility. Like driving 65mph would take us 70 miles in an hour instead of 65. That kind of impossible. A lot of other impossibles too. I always thought that even if someone said it couldn't be done, my mom and I could make it happen. I think that's because most of the time, she made stuff happen. Anyone else have moms like that? Who magically make stuff happen? We were never rich, we lived on a strict budget but still, we had the horses. That's a crazy expensive hobby! For me, the impossible never existed because my mom would just...make it happen.

As I've gotten older, I've gotten more jaded, like I'm sure a lot of you have experienced. The realm of impossible is so much bigger than it was. There's mathematically impossible, there's unrealistically impossible...so many different impossibilities. Still, I'd like to think that I spend less time living in "impossible" than "possible". I don't know how a lot of stuff gets done, I don't know how Working Man and I manage to pull some things off but...there it goes again. It's technically impossible, but it works still.

So many things I've seen us manage to pull through, through the impossible. I try not to dwell on things too much and leave possibility open. I can stress all I want about something that simply can't happen, or I can sit back and watch it happen. The latter is far more fun. It never fails to leave me stunned that it worked, that the impossible became possible. History is full of "impossible" odds. Yet, we are still surprised that we should see the "impossible" happening in our own little worlds.

All of us just need to have a little more faith is all. Just because we're all aware of the odds and all aware that 2+2=4, doesn't mean that reality doesn't sometimes get a nudge and 2+2=5. I'll continue living every day with faith and hope that it grows and eventually reaches the point it was when I was a kid. I haven't been disappointed yet.

What could you have a little more faith for today?
