Rocky

My Rocky. He's such a good boy. He's now a whole of 8 years old and for those who do not know horses, he's still pretty young. In many ways, he reminds me of a little kid. He's extremely well-behaved for as young as he is and still green in a lot of aspects. He truly wants to please though and that is most important.

Rocky was my Valentine's Day gift this last year. I've only had him for five months but it feels like so much longer. We had heard about him from Uncle G, his neighbor was looking to sell him. He'd never ridden Rocky so he had no idea how well-trained or not trained he was. He was very friendly but I was concerned with him being so young and unused for at least a year that he would be very much like a two-year-old (just learning to be under saddle). We ended up riding him around in a halter and saddle no problem. He wasn't scared of anything and plodded along as slowly as he could. His only flaw? He didn't like water. Not a deal breaker for me though and we tested him out for a month. He was great the whole time and I wanted him.

So while I was gone taking care of my mom's pets while she was away, Matt bought him for me and I came home to my big beautiful boy. At the time though, he was rather skinny.

He went from this:

002
So skinny and lacking in all muscle tone.

008
He had the start of a decent butt (something quarter horses are well known for) but it needed a lot of work still!

To this:

040-2
Look at the weight he piled on in no time!

010-3
*Drool* Now THERE is a quarter horse butt!
