On Saturday night, when we heard about the wind advisory (not too uncommon, but this degree was), coupled with the rain, we feared much the same fate. About midnight, FIL D got up to take a walk around the property and reported all was well. Around 3:30, he got up again to tie down a tarp against the fence around our pool. In the morning we could see the extent of the damage.
Our six year old palm.
We have oodles of young trees, and it's the six-year-old the storm took out.
After determining the mother root was severed, the boys pushed the tree over enough so when it was chopped, it wouldn't be in the pool. It's had enough water.
Working Man saving us all from hard work.
Burning through.
Ash.
Check out those burn marks.
Then Working Man pulled out a tool I didn't recognize. I realized it was to pull out the posts after I watched him fiddle with it for awhile.
Here's to hoping there's not another storm so nasty for another two years.
